FINDING YOUR ONE THING

A pivotal point in the movie City Slickers was when cowboy Curly (Jack Palance) turns to city slicker (Billy Crystal) and asks “do you know what the secret of life is?” Holding up his index finger he answered his own question with “one thing; just one thing”.  “What is it?” “That’s what you’ve gotta figure out” Curly responded.  

A pivotal point in our lives is when we figure out our ONE THING.  Paul, in Philippians 3 shares his ONE THING and the truths and clues to help us find our ONE THING.

Philippians 3:7  But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.

forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

and the power of his resurrection 
IV. ONE THING: Impassioned Living
and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
